Lukas Baumann (Germany), Matthew Gilmore (Australia) and Mateusz Świdnicki (Poland) have been confirmed as permanent Wild Cards for this year's FIM Speedway U21 World Championship series. The competition starts on 4th September in Stralsund, Germany.
All three riders competed in the semi-final of FIM Speedway U21 World Championship in Güstrow, Germany. Mateusz Świdnicki finished seventh, Lukas Baumann eighth and Matthew Gilmore tenth, but the Australian only made four appearances after an heavy crash.
The FIM U21 Commission also selected the reserve riders for the series: Petr Chlupac (Czech Republic), Jevgenij Saidulin (Russia), Philip Hellström Bängs (Sweden), Norick Bloedorn (Germany) and Drew Kemp (Great Britain).
“After a difficult 2020 season where only one event could be held, everyone is really looking to complete this Championship in the best possible way and assure a fair series to all the Competitors. On behalf of the FIM I wish all the best to our riders, organisers and to our Promoter One Sport for a successful Championship,” said Armando Castagna - FIM Track Racing Commission Director.
The FIM Speedway U21 World Championship series will determine the best under 21 speedway rider in the World.
The competition starts on 4th September in Stralsund (Germany). Then, the rider will compete on 25th September in Krosno (Poland) and in Pardubice (Czech Republic) on 1st October.
